i have though about mounting them on the a-piller. A guy i work with has some there in his esclade and they sound awsome. they point towards the windshield so they are not to over powering. just sounds awsome to me.

the problem with pointing them at the windshield is they distort very easily. Lower frequencies like subwoofers dont do too bad but mids and highs especially tweeters dont react too well to being bounced off glass.

I had the same tuff decision as you, finally I decided to go with the A pillars. I must say im pretty impressed, Im using boston acoustics components with a crossfire 4 channel and they sound excellent!! The only two other options that I see or custom kick panels or switch your door panels to some Firebird panels. GOOD LUCK

dude, u really don't have a choice unless u want to go with components or drill holes in panels. IMO putting them in the A pillars are the best because they won't be over powering.

well with good components, you can get them real loud without distorting, the problem with putting them in the pillar is the sound stage is not pointed at you. It's more in front of you then at you. I like how the firebirds have the tweeter placed. I'll tkae a look at my car soon and see what I can do.

I've seen how some toyota's have put t hem in the door very near the window. I think that would sound alright bing up by the pillar but in the door. Im just going to buy the type r 6.5 components, and screw around with thme until I find a spot I like. Then I'll post a write up. If i cant find anything anywhere, I'm going with firebird door panels.

this probably sounds weird but in my 94 camaro i put 4 tweeters under the dash pad where the defroster vent is.i put them to the front of the actual vent hole but you could see them laying in there and they stayed put pretty well.i don't know if the 98-up vent is designed the same way or not.
