Ampman Audio Revolution 1500.1
Adire Brahma 15"
3.5 Cubes ported at 32hz....
It's ugly and loud... and I was pretty damned drunk when I built it... but it will take your breath away and it pushes the rubber seal between my windows and ttops in and out real quick...

).I've worked in car audio before, but only on the sales floor, all of my install experience has been shade-tree, on my own. And with no-one really to teach me hands on, most of my progress has been just practice, reading articles and looking at pics of other systems, and more practice. So naturally, as you do something more and more, you get better. You can see that in my pics comparing my techniques from my first installs, to my current one. Go back 3 or 4 years, and you have mdf wooden bases and frames, with fiberglass used as well. Now, you have almost 100% composite construction, with welded box steel tubing providing structural frame work when needed.
So, as I was saying, as I got better and better with my skills, I kept wanting to redo things in my car to make them better. It would seem that no sooner then I finish a part, that I'd have an idea to make it better. So the car has been constantly evolving over the years.
The last "finished" install, the one you see described on my site as my 2005 Street X setup, was about 2 years worth of work, working on and off on weekends and after work. That's my biggest downfall with installing, I am slow. It takes me alot longer then alot of other pro class installers to build stuff of this caliber.
The current build, started back in January of this year, with a new amp rack. I started my dash back in April, same with the new kickpanels. As for money... I don't even want to think about that.
Let's just say I have a large portion of my disposable income, and some of my 'should not be disposable' income, have been invested in this car over the years. Not to mention a little help from VISA now and then. I can easily say that the cost of my materials and supplies over the past 2 or 3 years easily surpasses the cost of the equipment. All of those connectors and wiring, not to mention carbon fiber, fiberglass, resin, etc .. adds up quick. Then figure the money spent going to shows throughout the year.... let's just say I'm surprised my wife has not put her foot down yet and said enough is enough. But she is really supportive of me with this, and I enjoy it alot, so as long as I can still afford to put food on the table and keep the roof over our heads, it's all good
.for now though, the Firehawk is sitting stripped and in limbo while I work on a 2nd project. A simple street class system, more in tune with what you could expect a nice shop to build for you using quality midrange equipment. It's going into my 02 Buick Regal to finish out the IASCA competition season while I continue to work on the Firehawk, which will be completed for debut next year. There's pics of that car in my galleries at my site too.
thanks for the compliments guys...

It's nice that your wife's supportive. Mine is too to a point, but I have children now and while I have time for an occasional event, I don't have the time to do it regularly. I have to agree, I can see fab, etc work more money than the equipment, fact is electonics has gotten cheaper over the years, labor's gone up.
Sweet, now a second car.
It never ends does it.
I've decided to replace my kx350.4 with a kx850.4 instead of the kx650.4 They sent me a zx850.4 instead which I don't mind, lol. I will be pushing over 3800w rms now. I just don't know where I'm going to put it, lol.
It's addictive, just like performance, hehe.
