Default 12' stealth box?

Im planning to make a 12'' stealth box out of fiberglass. I was just wondering why everyone has 10''instead of 12'' stealth boxes. I measured it out today and it looks like it will fit.

Also I was wondering how this will sound compared to my old set up wich is in my cardomain. This one will be a ton smaller but it will also be airtight, and my old one had tons of places where air excaped. Also any tips about fiberglassing a stealth box, Its my first time and i know it probley wont turn out too good.

the reason no-one uses a 12 is because it's too small of an area for a 12 to operate in. I would think you could get away witha 12 in the passenger side, but the driver side is way to small for a 12 to operate. AT most like .6 cubic feet ive read. A good 10 would probably sound better with a box it's correct size.

yeah i was kinda worried about that, how do you think it would sound compared to my old set-up.

or maybe i could make it go up under the trim too where the factory subs are.

I dont know where the factory subs are besides the sail panels and a 12 wont fot there. as for the comparison, dont know. If youre using teh same sub and amp, itll sound worse.

I have a 12" box just like you are talking about. I am willing to sell it. It has .71 cuft volume, which "will" fit some subs. I built it myself and is about 1/2" think. I had a 12" IDQ in it, it sounded fine, low end probably suffered a bit.

my 12" stealth sounds wonderful. a small box sub will have plenty of air space in there, especially with fiberglass. i believe you saw the pic of my sub and how well it fits.

I just looked at your "old" setup. I don't know the volume of your box so I can't say what the sound difference would be. And I don't know the ideal volume for an RF sub.

Again I have a .71 cuft fiberglass box I am willing to sell if you are interested, I have pics. It fits under the trim and blends with the interior nicely. The only reason I changed my setup away from the stealth box is that I wanted to try something different. I went with a ported enclosure which does put out more sound, though I don't think it really changed the sound character too much. I'm kinda sick of it taking up all the space in the back of my car though to be honest.
