Is there any plastic between the heater controls and the head unit or is it one big opening for both?

I would REALLY love to see how they mounted it..... thats gotta be a work of genius with the metra 99-4544 kit more than likely. I have the avn-6600 and Im looking to make a similar panel... the problem is that I have already fabbed up one of my panels with a touch screen 7" xenarc for my car pc, IF I can get a feel for the mounting they used, I could probably make a couple for people who want them.

Mounting a double din h/u is the easy part of putting one in (at least it was with my old cheapo from ebay in my camaro). Pulled the stocker, cut off the plastic tab on the back/bottom of the seperator between the ac controls and the radio. The radio lined up perfect just sitting on top of the plastic seperator. Use a hairdryer to heat up the plastic of the a/c duct, put a plastic bag over the back of the h/u and shove it back when the plastic is still hot, this will force the plastic to form around it, allowing the h/u to sit flush with the dash. I put a piece of thin textured rubber that you can put in cabinets and stuff between the h/u and the plastic so it wouldn't rattle at all. Then used 2 L-brackets you can buy @ a hardware store for a couple bucks, hogged out the holes a bit and ran the screws into a hole on each side of the h/u casing, and reused the stock screws that go into the dash. Doesn't move at all and lines up perfectly. I'm definitely no genius, just made it work

Great, I've been looking at these for awhile. Unfortunately I'm still a ways out from buying one.

engine/turbo, trans/clutch and rearend are all coming first...

I first saw one in a procharged TA for sale on Ebay. So I knew it would work with some modifications. At the time the nav/harddrive/dvd unit wasn't released yet.

These head units are the *****!

i sure wish a sponsor would make these.. i don't think it would be hard if you had the proper equipment.. 400 is a little steep, but it is one of a kind.. looks nice
