i never got a speeding ticket in this car til i got this radar detector
Mine is hardwired and I have the same issue so it doesn't appear to be an issue with how it is wired. Mine has also started doing it when I go WOT too. I have no idea why that is, but its started developing that issue now too.

mine does it too. mirror sets it off as does about 3/4 throttle with a decent load on the engine. i'm pretty much used to it now. but it still catches me off guard every now and then.

I had that problem.Sent it back to Escort and they took care of it for free. The fix did not appear to affect performance.

Mines doing this too. Nothing was changed on the car. Like everyone else, it worked fine for the first two years. Its to the point to where I just stopped using it because I could be cruising in 6th gear at 1500rpm and it would go off about every 10 seconds or just never stop going off at all. Glad to see its a fix for this.

We used to have a truck that would set off my dad's radar detector when the horn was pressed for 5 seconds.

I have an X50, had it for maybe 3 months now, haven't gotten a single fake laser alert. I've only gotten one laser alert in total, and it was quite real (I was already slowing down anyway, having seen him before he lasered me)

No problems with mine, havent heard the laser unless a cop is sitting on the side of the road doing it.......and it's saved me TWICE with laser.......the key is you MUST hit the brakes AS SOON as that **** goes off......like almost INSTANT, the laser gun needs two hits..........a 1st and then a 2nd, if you can get it before that 2nd, you're good.

I was doing 65mph in a 55, the first time and almost LOCKED up the tires (no abs) I swear the cop gave me the 'bad' look

the second time i was more like 75...

Well, my old Escort finally died - picked up a new X50 - no false alerts at all with the new unit.

I was reading Radarforums and one of the guys said that using an in-line noise filter with his X50 stopped his falses. I know I'm kind of bringing this thread back, but hopefully that information will help some of you.

Mine very rarely falses......except for that DAMN POP I turned on.... I want to turn it off....but I'm afraid it might help someday.... It likes to go off by this one police station.......coincidence? Who knows..... I just hate it when it goes off - always freaks me out cuz the damn thing sounds so "oh ****!! cops!!"

Curious.

Just wanted to ask if any of you that are having this problem are using "OEM sparkplugs AND wires"?

Thanks!

Mine was doing this for a long time. Sometimes it was worse than others for no reason, but I think when it was wet out it was worse. The last month has been especially bad, it would do it whenever I touched the throttle at all. Last weekend I changed my plugs and found a burnt sparkplug wire. I think it may have been arcing on the header primary. Well I switched it out and I haven't had the laser go off since. So my theory is the arcing was creating some kind of electrical in the radar detectors internals.
