Default clearance with stealth box

I had been considering running 2 10 type r in 2 stealth boxes from Subthump. But, I saw in a post somewhere that you cant play the subs while the tops are in the trunk. Is this true for just the driver side or for the passenger as well. My car didnt come with a spare tire and the monsoon amp was yanked so I'm not concerned about a passenger side box. Anyone remedy this or have any experience with it?

Why wouldn't you be able to play them while the tops are in the trunk? I had one in the driver side previously and had the tops of repeated times and had them back there with no issue. Several people here locally also have both Subthump enclosures on both sides with the tops in the back of their car. I wouldn't see why it wouldn't work.

Isn't the purpose of the stealth box to still ALLOW you to put the tops back there? Have you contacted Subthump for their input? Since they made it, they might have some more insight for you.

I saw it in another thread, let me see if i can find it, and when i sent them an email friday it went unanswered. SO no issues at all with the passenger side t-top hitting the driver side stealth box. Cool, I will be putting 2 type r back there then with an alpine mrd m1005.

Well, when I store the tops they are about a half a pinky width away from the sub. And it looked like the sub would smack the tops every time the bass hit.

Hmmm, I'll have to test it again. I would love to be able to crank it with the tops off!

How close are your tops to the sub? I think if I put a grill on there, the grill will be touching the tops.
