Can I put a CD player in the dash and keep the 12 changer?

Can I put a CD player in the dash and keep the 12 changer? Our 2000 Firehawk has the 12 disc CD changer in the trunk and a stupid tape player in the dash. I really hate it. I prefer to pick a CD or 2 and take them with me and be able to change them right there in the car. Can I add the factory radio with the CD and leave the changer in the back or does the changer need to go?
Any suggestions would be appreciated. I don't even have any tapes left. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

Re: Can I put a CD player in the dash and keep the 12 changer? You should hav no problem putting a GM CD player in the veicle replacing the GM tape unit. If your planning on putting an aftermarket one, I don't think anyone make a cable that will work. Hope that helps..

I have a 99 ls1 with the monsoon cd changer and 12 disc and i have a buddy who let me take his gm cd player out of his blazer. sure enough it pluged right in but i have no cd changer controls. so i dont know i am wondering myself how to get the cd changer to work with the factory cd player

It has been a while since I had the stock receiver in the car or around to look at for that matter. There should be a button on the HU that says either CD or AUX something other than Am/Fm.. My brother in law has a 01 full size, HU is not a monsoon but came with a single CD player. I hemember seeing something that was on it to make it work.. Sorry I can't be of more help..
