Amp selection help
2 10" subs- 250watt RMS each 4ohm
4 6.5" components- 100watt RMS each 4ohm
I plan on running 2 amps. What wattage and how many channels will I need to power the subs and the components?
thanks
Adam
Now for the sub, you always have a lot of choices with amps. Once again RF is a good choice, i like it a lot or pioneer or permier. Just pick one that you think would do a good job then ask around see what everyone thinks. the 500x is 250X2

You really don't NEED that much power if you have quality equipment and set it up right. I am running PPI amps, MB Quarts components, and 2 12 inch Fosgate DVC's.. The Amp running the highs is a PPI powerclass 4200 wich puts out 35 watts RMS to 4 channels. It is loud and clean. The subs are powered by a PPI powerclass 2300. I'm only running 300 watts RMS to the 2 12's. The same setup was in my S-10 before I sold it and it laid down 126 DB with a singl 12 DVC in 2 ohm. I'm sure the 2 12's are producing more than 126 but haven't check.
My advise is 50 watts RMS if you want loud and clear on the highs (PPI is a wonderful way to go) and the 250 should be good for 2 10 inch DVC wired in 2 ohm.
Thanks

For the 2-12's I would say go with a Rockford 800a2, for the speakers I say go with a 600a4, pretty sure they still make the 600a4, but if not stay somewhere in that range

I should run things at 4ohms since thats what the speakers and subs are rated at right? Or can I run at 2ohms and is there any pluses to that?

I ordered my stuff here and got it quickly.
As for overpowering,I run one JL 12w3 dual 4 ohm speaker at 600 watt RMS into 2 ohm. This setup is extremely loud and has total control of the sub.
