What is needed to have a decent system?

Re: What is needed to have a decent system?
For most, the stock deck is great. Im still using the stock monsoon tape deck with a 12 disc changer. I have Infinity Kappa components in the front door and behind the seat.. I dropped the rear 4 inches and cut it to fit 5x7 Infinity Kappas... With a good high quality speaker, you can get beautiful highs and undistorted lows. I also have 2 10" MTX subs in the rear for bass.. My system sounds absolutely awesome.. not as good as some people on here, but better than most. If you want to put a new deck in, id stick with Alpine. Pioneer is good as well. I used to sell car stereos at circuit city.. so i have somewhat of a background. If i were you, start with speakers. Replace all of them. The ones behind the seat in the sail panels dont need to be replaced, cause they only do bass. But replace your door speakers and far rears.. Then, if you arent still satified with the sound, then you can move on to a deck maybe. Start with the basics. Hope that helps..

FRONT
Infinity Kappa 652.5i 6-3/4" 2-way Speakers
REAR
Infinity Reference 452i 4" 2-way Speakers
SUBWOOFER
MTX T-Form 10" Sub plus 100W amp for woofer
These are what I've found that I like. I know jack about stereo systems, all I know is the Monsoon sucks. So, do I need another amp for the speakers? What type of speakers should replace the ones by the rear seats (mids, 2-ways)? How do I choose the correct HU? Does it matter as long as it is good? Thanks

What is needed to have a decent system?
I want a good quality system for my T/A. All everyone around here is bass. But I want clearness, no distortion, high quality, and bass. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" /> What all needs to be replaced? Can someone please give me some suggestions as to what to replace everything with?
Headunit
Subwoofer
Tweeters
Mids
Highs
What else will I need? I want a very nice system, but it doesn't have to be a competition level one. If anyone has a webpage with info about their system, please post it as well. Thanks a lot!

Well the HU is gonna be "brain" of the system and probably one of the most important parts. I recomend a alpine or eclipse, possibly one of the higher end kenwood's. If you have enough watts comming out of the HU then that will save you lots of $ on needing a amp for the new speakers (since you just want nice clear sound, yet basic). Check out sounddomain.com for some idea, and crutchfield.com is good for lookin up spec's on products (but don't buy there, its pricey)
I dunno how much you wish to spend on all this, but its mainly the more $ you put in the better quality.

Well considering that everything goes through the stock monsoon amp no matter what head unit you use... if you want a serious system, then you need to get some amps to replace the monsoon 8 channel amp.. Which means a lot of amps, crossovers, and tons of wiring.. woo! Personally, im extremely happy with my stock monsoon with the upgraded infinity speakers and subs.. my system sounds better than most of my friends who have spent thousands on their systems..

Okay, thanks. I ordered the speakers that I mentioned above. I am gonna get the subwoofer soon. I will probably end up replacing everything sometime, but I am gonna see how happy I am with just those changes first. Thanks again.
