Ticking noise with RPM...
I have an little aftermarket system. Not much at all. I did away with the AMP. Put a Sony Xploid(sp?) head unit. And 4 speakers. I've had it for about a year now. Here is the deal....
About a month ago I srated hearing ticking in the FM stations. It is light but there no doubt. It speeds up with RPM. On CD its dead quiet. I removed the head unit and re spliced al the wires for extra measure. Cleaned ground... No help. So i changed the location of the ground from factory ground do frame ground. Did nothing...
Any ideas on what to check next? Maby a head unit problem? I didnt add any new mods right before hand. Only thing that i can think of that i could check is maby a shorted wire from my shift light (ignition wire)??? Would ignition cause it? (rmp sensitive)
Thanks for your help if its possible to troubleshoot over the net.

sunspots Mine does it too, sometimes... If anyone does have an answer, let's hear it. Seriously, I think it is some kind of frequency interferance. This may sound strange, but for about 4 to 5 months a year, my AM reception goes in the toilet with my aftermarket head unit, but not with the stock. I have also heard of aftermarket plug wires causing problems.
