i just ordered a bose class d chaos amp rev 3000,
has anyone ever heard anything about this amp? it is rated at 3000 watts at 1 ohm, i need to power 3 12's at 1000 watts each, also do you think i should get a couple compactors? thanks

Bose don't make aftermarket car stereo amp. What you bought is a boss rev 3000. For some reason people confuse those names all the time. We sell boss amps at my store and they usually do decent as far as just for a bass amp. I didn't relize Boss made a d class amp, I don't keep up with them that much. Id be pretty sceptical if it was anywhere near 3000 watts though. Boss is a cheaper amplifier and they tend to HIGHLY over rate their wattage. Better question is if the amp really is 3000 watts at 1 ohm, what ohm load are your woofers? If they ain't like dual 6 ohms you'll never hit the 1 ohm the amp needs to get it's maximum wattage. Also a good rule of thumb is one farad for every 1000 watts, so you will probally need atleast one cap.

As far as a stiffening capacitor, I'm a firm believer that you can't have too much. Phoenix Gold make a killer 10 farad capacitor. You won't have to worry about your lights dimming with that one.
