Re: A4 gear indicator light Don't know what bulb it is but......put the car in neutral (not cranked). You need something like needle-nose pliers to pull out a metal clip on the front side of the shift ****.
Pull the **** off, don't lose the clip. Then pop out the tray or TC switch panel that's in front of the shift ****. You may have to unplug the connections.
Other than that, I think there's only 2 screws/bolts to remove. Open up the armrest and they should be there at the front. If you have a coin holder, pull it straight up and they're under there.
