Hi guys,
What all is involved in putting a remote starter in a camaro? Does it work with the factory alarm or do i need to get a new one?
Thanks

By all means watch the crappy demo but don't even consider buying such a cheesy remote car start. Research different companys and find one with the features your looking for but make sure you buy a name brand worth having. Look at the Clifford, Viper, or any of the other DEI lines. Hell even buy a Code, but be sure to avoid such cheap alarms as bulldog.
Now that I've flamed well enough, on to the original question.....
Depending on your experience and abilities a remote start isn't very hard to install. Just really a mater of taping a few wires under the column and finding a tach wire. Also their are plenty of interfaces and whatnot that make it even easier these days to bypas the vats system,(like ones from www.bypasskit.com) so there isn't much to worry about. If your not familar with electrical work though you might wanna just take it to a good shop and let them do it. Don't consider places like Circuit City. They maybe a big company but all they seem to do is higher minimum wage flunkies. I know every alarm install I've ever seen come out of the one here locally was just crappy. Look around and try to find a professional local shop. Unfortunatly that won't guarantee anything either it's kinda hit and miss.
hope this kinda answers your question........later

I should be receiving my Compustar 2WSS-AS alarm/remote start today. This looked like the best alarm with remote start that I could find. Plus, it has a pager built into the remote, which also has a color screen and shows you what is going on with your vehicle-door open, car running=exhaust coming out tail pipe on remote. Pretty cool IMO. I'd check them out if I were you. You might be interested in one of their models...Compustar.org

I was shopping around and happened to look on Ebay and ended up getting mine for $280. I think that if you buy from a dealer, etc. I've heard it'll cost around $600 or so with install..The install only takes around 4 hours or so. Not too bad. Just don't buy some cheap immitation. You get what you pay for..I think I got a pretty good deal on mine..
