I have a Panasonic cd player in my 2000 ta. Just a word of advice, " spend a lil more to have a pro do the install. I tried to do it on my car. the wiring is easy when you get the harness adapter. The hardest thing to do is hook the controls up to the steering column. This is a b---h. You have to get into your steering column, which took my friend who is a pro 2.30 hrs to find a route for the signal eye. This installation also requires minor cutting of the mounting kit. So once again, if you want to save youself a head ache have it proffessionally installed. GOOD LUCK PARTNER.

just out of curiosity why in the world did you buddy go into the steering column just to put a radio in? that makes no since whatsoever cause every wire you need includeing the one for the steering wheel controls (if your trying to use them) are behind the radio.

SWEET i wasn't trying to bash ya sir but i was truly curiuos why your buddy would go through all that effort since you did meantion he was a pro. sorry if ya took it that way. i still remember my first experience with a PAC steering wheel adapter it suprised me at how easily it went it. unfortunatly i got one of the first generation ones and it didn't work to well with my pioneer but atleast i had good timing cause the new SWI-X came out like the following week and that one worked great.

MY BUDDY WAS ALSO NEW AT INSTALLING STEREOS IN THE NEW TA's. HE TOLD ME THAT THE ONLY WAY TO HOOK UP THE ELECTRONIC EYE FOR THE WHEEL CONTROLS WAS TO DO IT THROUGH THE STEERING COLUMN. HELL I DIDNT KNOW WHY HE DID IT ETHIER, THIS IS THE FIRST TA IVE EVER HAD, THATS JUST THE WAY HE SAID THAT IT HAD TO BE DONE. IF I LEAD ANYONE IN THE WRONG DIRECTION, I APOLOGIZE, WERE ALL ONLY TRYING TO HELP, RIGHT? SO AGAIN ALL APOLOGIES TO THE MASTER TECHS. ILL BE SURE THAT I KNOW THE RIGHT WAY TO DO SOMETHING BEFORE I TRY TO GIVE ADVICE NEXT TIME. AGAIN I APOLOGIZT TO ANYONE THAT I LEAD THE WRONG WAY.

no harm done at all, and please don't take my post as bashing. I still remember the first install i did 12 years ago. It took my dumb *** 4 hours & 2 fuses to install a tape deck. Than I realized there were aftermarket wiring harnesses that made the job alot easier than tracing each wire. we all start somewhere. My only advice before an install, go down to the local stereo shop or hunt the net and get the wiring diagrams pertaining to whatever you are about to modify. If all else fails go down to the local gm parts depot & ask them for diagrams.
