Default Advice on setup (stereo pros)

I would like to hear opinions on which setup I should go with.

First of all, I have 2 small amps (35w/2 or 100w/1) and already have a new HU, an EQ, and a good size amp with a 12" sub. My question is, which would be better for the use of the 2 small amps?

1 - Get 2 pair of descent 7" 2-3 way speakers and run 1 amp on each set.

2 - Get 1 good set of component speakers for the front and run one amp to each of those and get some average speakers for the rear (fill) and power them with the HU.

I'm not looking to win any competitions, I just want the best sound quality possible.

What brand equipment are you running now? What kind of 12 are you using?

I personally, never fill the rear, b/c it can throw the front off, but you said you aren't going to compete. I would get a nice component for the front, possibly a 6.5 setup from JL, or Image Dynamics, etc. Use the 100 watt amp, turn it down a little and put some rear 3 ways on the 35 watt amp.

It doesn't take much to make components scream and sound really nice. I was running RF 250a2 on a pair of 1" kicker r25 tweets and 1 Kicker L7 12 and a bd1000 on it and you still could hear the actual music over the thunder coming from behind the seat on a standard cab s-10.

I only run focal 165ks components up front...no rear fill speakers...except for sub in the back....and it sounds great...for some cool stereo systems...and to get help on stereo related questions...check this site out...and make sure to sign up...

With out knowing what amps your using, it's hard to say what would be worth it, but with the amps you have, if they're decent quality, I'd say go with a decent set up 2 way or component speakers for up front, nevermind the rear and get a decent sub and stealth box or Milhouse box from http://www.subthump.com to give you some really good lower end response.

I love the kicker R series component sets. (they're a little old now, I don't know what the new stuff is like).

I also run the Focal 165k2 components up front, no rear fill. I have an image dynamics 12 in a drivers side box in the trunk. All powered by a Rockford Fosgate power 750x. I love the sound quality, the focals are pure xtacy, worth the money! I may however get a set of image dynamics midbass drivers for the rear and power them off the Alpine HU.
