Best sub for this amp....
Best sub for this amp.... I have a Rockford Fosgate 4ch. 500X, and want to bridge only 1 10" speaker on it. Which sub would you choose and why? Price is up to $250. What kind/model of speaker and what ohms?

Re: Best sub for this amp.... To squeeze all the power out of that amp you need to bridge each pair together to make one pair of outputs. Each channel is no lower than 4 ohm stable, So we have two channels stable down to 4 ohms = dual 4ohm coil speaker. I would go with the fosgate rfp3210. It is a perfect match power wise to the amp at 400 rms 800 peak watts. Assuming your putting this speaker in the rear driver side of the car, this sub has a wide range of suitable enclosure sizes .375 - 1.75 cubic feet. A perfect fit. And ofcourse the cheese factor. The brands match!

Re: Best sub for this amp.... I am a big fan of Image Dynamic subs. They sound killer in small sealed enclousers like a stealthbox. I have a Rockford power 750x ( 4 channel) pushing one 12" ID dual 2 ohm sub in a drivers side box. The rear 2 channels are bridged to push the sub and the front channels to the components.

Re: Best sub for this amp.... You'd get more bass from two lesser rated subs vs. one higher rated sub. Kinda like "there is no repalcement for dispalcement" with engines, it goes the same for cone area. more cone= more air moved= more spl. Btw, I reccomendend fosgate for their wide recognition, but jsears mentioned image stuff, I have worked with image a few times, and they really are a good line of products, I don't think you would go wrong with them.
