Default help picking an amp

I have 2 Kicker L7 subs 12" i was thinking of the KX1200.1 to power them my question is with the 4 ohm voice coils how do i wire them up and how much power will i be puting to each sub? Kicker says that the amp will put out
600X1@2ohm RMS
1200X1@1ohm peak
1200X1@1ohm bridged
but is the bridged rating rms or peak? i thought all mono amps are bridged? Can it hold the 1200 long without overheating? or should i get another amp?
thanks guys

If you take all the positive and negative posts from both subs and tie them together in parallel you will presenting the amp a 1 ohm load. IMO I would run 2 amps, 1 for each sub and wire the vc on each sub in parallel so that each sub would be presenting a 2 ohm load to each amp. I think it would be more stable. Either way, if you wired in a 1 ohm load, each voice coil would get 300 watts, so 600 per sub and if you wired to 2 ohms with 2 amps you would also see 300 per voice coil, but the amp wouldn't run as hot. I'm not sure how Kicker amps run when at 1 ohm, I would imagine it would be okay at normal levels, but when you crank it, it may be a problem. Are you planning on an alternator and battery upgrade too?

do you think i'll need to upgrade the alt. and batt.? i have a KX600.4 and a MTX PRO series 300X2 on my charging system right now with no problem.and that's going to 1 10" solobaric and what gauge wire do you think i should use right now i have a 2 gauge going to a dist. box and 4 gauge running out of that to the amps.I'll be replacing the MTX with the KX1200.1

Run them at 1ohm. Basically, red to red and black to black to all leads. The amp won't run hot, they are very dependable under heavy loads. The amp is also under rated. You will see around 1400rms under the load, thus about 700rms per sub. You will be pleased and don't worry about over heating the amp, it won't. Keep the gain down low when you first set it up. You will fine tune it afterwards.

No problems with kicker amps at 1ohm. The amps are under rated for power too. They are very dependable and they don't get very hot.
