Default Looking for some Radar ideas

I'm thinking about doing some custom wiring for some sort of visual alert for my X50. I just recently got a system installed with a 10W3v3 and sometimes it's very hard to hear the detector. I was wondering if any of you guys could throw out ideas on where to mount / or even WHAT to mount something to let me know my detector is going off!! I am going to be buying the hard wire kit soon so I hope to be able to work off that.

for a second question. What's the best way to hard wire this detector? I read that one hard wire FAQ but all the pics are down.

you could use the sense wire, if your radar has one, and tie it into a MUTE Wire on an aftermarket stereo, so that when you radar starts going off, ur music cutss off.

then u gotta turn off x, and k band. That is, IF your radar is enabled to do so. BTW, the effectiveness of radar is not necessarily through false alerts, but to the distance that the alerts occur in proportion to the signal being sent out.

Your radar is going ot pick up any bands that it can within a certain frequency range. So the radar is going to go off when it recieves that signal. Whether or not it can accurately pinpoint the frequency is the question. False alerts happen when a certain K or X band cross. Its kind of difficult to explain, but it has to do with sin waves and what not.

I've always mounted mine in the left corner of the dash. So long as you are looking at the road you can see it going off in your field of vision.

For hardwiring all you need is a splice off the switched power from the radio, you can do the ground at the same time or just make a new ground wherever, there are several ground points in the dash and lower panels.

There is also a switched power outlet in the fuse panel, so lots of options. A detector doesn't draw enough current to make worries about stacking off the radio switched or fuse panel.
