Dvd Head Unit Question

Dvd Head Unit Question Does anyone know how to bypass the feature on a in dash DVD player that prevents it from working unless the parking break is on? should you hook it to a ground or a 12 volt source? i'm trying to avoid pulling the center console . Thanks guys.

im pretty sure you hook it up 2 a 12v source.. a quick way to test it is to ground it first, and see if the dvd player comes on.. of not, then try to hook it up to a 12v source.. the cigar lighter wire would work good.

No, the parking brake switch is a grounding switch so the wire would have to be grounded. That still may not make it work on newer players - many of them need a sequence of powering up first and then having the brake set (to prevent people from just grounding the wire).
Oh BTW, did I mention how stupid and illegal it is to watch DVDs while driving? I'm sure that's not why you want to do it...
