Stereo Noise I recently installed a new stereo in my 98 T/A. I installed, a Sub, and two amps. I had the head unit and the speakers installed prior to this install. The problem I'm having is alternator whine. I don't want to buy a new alternator yet cause I want to check all my grounds first. I have a couple of questions maybe you guys could help me with.
Before I even added this stereo, I was having problems with my battery holding a charge if I let the car sit for more then 12 hours it would go dead on me.
Then I thought it was the battery and I replaced it and it still wouldn't hold a charge. I noticed after I installed the head unit and speakers that when i would shut the car off the speakers would pop. Well now that I have installed an amp for the aftermarket speakers. I have solved the popping problem that I had. Every time i use one of the powered accessories in the car, like windows, breaks, or anything like that I here the whine, not to mention the wine I get when the rpm's clime.
So do I just need to ground everything better, or do I need to get a new alternator? Also if its a problem with the ground, where is a good place to ground an amp in the trunk? I have it grounded right now to the same ground as the trunk release.

redo all of your grounds, get some sand papper and use it to rub paint off then ground again, i have my grounds in trunk under the carpets, make sure you ground everything seprate and if it cont. try a noise filter! oh and if you have the ground with trunk release then it might not be strong enough!

figured it out I figured it out the damn amp that I bought had a blown channel, and I also had a problem with the remote wire grounding out near the head unit. I appreciate the help though.
