radio controls for streering wheel
The factory steering wheel controls only use two wires - one provides power and the other goes to the head unit. The switches each introduce an assigned resistance that the head unit reads to determine which switch was pressed. I don't know if those two wires are present in the steering column unless the car came with the steering wheel controls. If they are then you should be able to just install the new wheel and it will work. If not, you will have to run the wires and probably change the slip ring as well.

Oh, and just to avoid confusion, the slip ring I mentioned is what Smokingss is calling the clock spring - the actual name according to the parts manual is "inflatable restraint steering wheel coil".
and yes i know he has the factory radio(i have a pioneer), but i was just saying that in my car thats how i know theres only one wire giving a signal to the radio.
