No power?!

No power?! Hi guys, I was replacing my front bumper the other week. And all I did is disconnected the headlights and reconnected them back, except the low beam driver side as the connection on lamp is broken so i didnt bother putting it in. Ever since I reconnected the lights, the security light(I assume thats what is) the red light by the gear shifter is on all the time! Now the worst part theres barely any charge in car, not even enough to start the car, as soon as I turn the key to ON the dash lights come on and them dim and go off totally. I jumped the car from another, and it works fine, had it working for 5-10 minutes, but in the end the was no enough power to start the car on its own the 2nd time. So I dont know what it could be? Battery? Alternator? And strange thing is it happened right after disconnecting the lights, and the security is still on all the time. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like your battery is dead. You could take it out and have it tested but if it won't hold a charge it's probably due for replacement. A dead battery can cause all kinds of electric gremlins so I would do that before trying to diagnose any other problems.
BTW, I'm not familiar with a security light near the shifter. There's the security light in the instrument cluster, the LED on top of the dash for the alarm system, and the LED on the face of the radio for the TheftLoc system. Do you have an aftermarket alarm system?

Yeah I guess its aftermarket, dont know much about it, just got the car this summer, but its red led right below the manual gear shifter. I dont know if it changes anything but when I disconnected the battery and connected it back, I didnt tie it up so it was a bit loose for couple of days. Then had 1 unsuccessful crank, and another weak one and then it wouldnt start at all. Ill give a new battery a shot.
