CD player cleaner??? Issue within.....
This is in regards to the stock CD player in my '02 Monte, but I'm sure it'd be the same for all GM CD players.
I understand there is some sort of cleaning kit/system for automotive CD players. I'm thinking this might help my issue. I'm having trouble with CDs skipping in this CD player that otherwise play perfect in my other cars. These are not "home burned" CDs either, just the regular store bought kind. And the problem isn't about vibrations/shock absorbsion either because it'll happen even when the car is parked. I'm thinking that the optics inside the CD player may be dirty/clouded (previous owner of the car smoked in it) and causing a poor reading.
So I guess my question is, how do these cleaning kits work? Where can I find the best one? And is there any risk of the cleaning solution damaging the internals?
Most people shy away from the brush on a cd type because they jostle the lens. Can't hurt if it is already messed up, but if you just have a dust blob on there the air will get it.

I'll try the compressed air first, and if the issue continues I'll try the cleaning kit w/ brushes.
