Default Fog Lights not working...

I have stock fog lights. Today when I was driving the switch was left on from the night before, so I turned them off when I turned on my parking lights. After I got off work today I went to turn on the fogs again and they wouldnt come on. The light on the switch wouldn't even come on. Could this be a blown fuse? If not, has anyone else experienced this problem??

It could be a fuse but only if your tail lights aren't working as well. The fog lights run off the TAIL LPS fuse, as do all your running lights (tail lights, side marker lights, etc.) so they would all be out if the fuse was blown.

I doubt it's a fuse because the switch indicator light doesn't run off the same fuse - it runs off the IP DIMMER fuse - so you'd have to have two fuses blown.

The first thing to check is that you don't accidentally have your highbeams on. The fog lights are designed to turn off when the highbeams are on.

If it's not that then it's likely the fog light switch itself. There are other possibilities to explain why the fog lights wouldn't work but none of them account for the switch indicator light not working as well.

So if it is the fog light switch itself, do I have to buy this replacement part from GM?

Yes, unless you wanted to just rig up your own switch. The part number is 10414007 and it retails for about $42 but you can get it cheaper online.

However, don't replace the switch without testing first. Unplug the switch and the using a test light or multimeter, check that the brown wire in the switch plug has power when the parking lights are on. Then take a short piece of wire and connect the brown wire to the yellow wire while the parking lights are on - this should make the fog lights go on. If it does then the switch is the problem, otherwise the problem is someplace else.
