Pontiac cd player in a Camaro?
Pontiac cd player in a Camaro? Just wondering if this will work, as I have a cd player with the 7band equalizer that came out of my 2000 Grand Prix. Am wondering it would work in my 99 Camaro? The Camaro only has the Bass/Treble *****, and that leaves much to be desired. Anyone know if they use the same harness, and if the Pontiac cd player will be able to work wtih the factory cd changer? thanks
The color is doesn't match, but that shouldn't matter. I am not trying to build a show car.
After looking at the Pontiac cd player, it doesn't have any type of buttons to controll the cd changer, so I'm sure that will work.

It should have a CD/Play button. That button is used to switch to the external changer - press once to switch to the internal single CD then press again to switch to the changer. The preset buttons are used for the changer the same way as with the single CD except that the unlabeled button 4 is also used for selecting the next disc in the magazine.
There are other differences besides the face and button colors - the illumination is red rather than blue/white and you will lose the speed compensated volume that the Camaro has.

I just tryed this, and the cd changer controll didn't work. I tryed pressing the Play/CD, but nothing.

CD head units in F-bodies didn't get the ability to control the external changer until late in the 99 model year (cassette head units always had that capability). It's possible that other lines of GM cars didn't get the upgrade until later model years so perhaps the Grand Prix didn't get it until after the 2000 model year. Or possibly the head unit in the Grand Prix had been replaced with one from an earlier model.

Another option would be a cassette head unit from any year. You could have the changer and use the tape drive as a cheap way to add an MP3 player or satellite radio.
