Default Jl Audio Subs???

I'm needing a pair of subs to drop into my probox. I have no idea on which kind of speaker to get from JL. I have a 500w mono to push em but i don't know what'll sound good with it. I was wanting W3 but keep hearing that i don't need anything that big because it's too much for the probox and would sound like crap....any ideas??? I was told to go with the V3's??? i think.

Personally I think that the JL w3 is exactly what you should run in that box.

I used to run 2 12w3's off a JL 500/1 and I LOVED it, JL subs are really great, and I still use that 500/1 amp in my setup now

Yeah I kinda figured W3 would be the way to go. That means I have to fork out the extra cash but it'll be worth it.

i put that exact setup in 2 chevy trucks today first one was 2 10" JL W3's and a 500.1 amp and the other was 2 12" W3's and a 500.1 it sounded pretty good, the 10's sounded better. both in a probox

If you're looking for something a little cheaper than the w3s that will still give you a great sound look into rockford fosgate subs. Right now i'm running 2 10" p2's off my 500/1 and it sounds great

JL's sound good for awhile, until they seperate. I don't trust any sub with foam surround.

I had a JL sub in my 94 Z28 for 7 years and the car was not garaged, a DD and the foam surround was just fine when I sold the car in 03.

If you wait til the end of the year, Boston Acoustics is coming out with a G3, which is supposed to be nearly as good as a G5 but a lot less money. IMO Boston subs are cleaner than JL subs, but JL's are louder, but Boston's are cheaper.

personally, i wouldnt run JL audio, its just too much money, you can get more, for less, check out caraudio.com, many many other brands that are more affordable, and will outpreform the JL, just a couple off the top of my head are Resonant engineering (of which I have run, and loved), an excellent bang for your buck that i've used is kicker L7s, crazy loud, and when in a sealed box, very great sounding at the same time. If you are not "set" on JL audio, do some more research, you can save yourself some dough, and even sound better doing so (wow, that rhymed, not intentionally) ok I am done.....

I have a w3 v3 12 in my back seat right now. I plan on building a box for the trunk, but I havn't had time. The sound is awesome, especially in a hatchback, and it sounds good with any range of music. People wont believe me when they first hear it, and I tell them it's just a three hundred watts system. V3's have my vote..

I love JL subs. IMO they are the best sub you can buy. VERY clean and loud. I had two 10w0s in my 92 camaro with a Alpine v-power amp. It sounded amazingly clean. I would go with the 10w3. I like 10s not 12s. but if your the other way around go for the 12w3. itll still sound awesome.

I agree....If you actually buy them from an authroized dealer they are WAY too much money. I got mine new off ebay for around 120 each which is less than 1/2 retail. ED subs are getting rave reviews as well if your not dead set on JL's but I don't advise buying JL's retail unless you got money to burn.

I have a JL 12w3v2, JUST ONE and it POUNDS! Even in a sealed box, that thing is LOUD! I can't imagine having more than one.

If you can get them for a good price, that's definitely the way to go.
