Default Need Some speaker advice

Right now I have the sock non-monsoon speakers in my car and I want to upgrade them. Currently I have no speakers the the rear sail panel/back seat area and I am thinking about putting 6 1/2's back there and ditching the 4in speakers in the rear hatch area. I am using a pioneer head unit to power speakers as I do not want to run a 4ch amp and new speaker wires. I also plan on geting a mtx 10in thunderform. Just wondering the best speaker setup using a pioneer head unit to power them and if 4 6 1/2's would sound good. Thanks, Scott

I'm confused...has this car had the stereo system modified? If you don't have a Monsoon system then you don't have hatch speakers but you do have sail panel speakers. The non-Monsoon speaker configuration was either four 6.5S (oversize) full range speakers or four 6.5S coax speakers mounted in the doors and sail panels.

Check your door sticker for option codes UZ7 (Monsoon), UQ0 (base speakers), or U62 (coax speakers).

Stupid question but how do you know you dont have an amp?
If you plan on a sub then you need to plan on an amp.4 x 6.5 off the Pioneer will sound fine to answer your question

Ok guys, my bad. Looks like I do have the amp, I didnt realize that it it mounted behind the panel, it just looked like a empty square so I assumed that I didnt have a amp, I also found the speakers in the sail. I feel like a dumbass. Does the amp only power the sail panel speakers in my car?

It powers all the speakers in your car/ Look at the stickie in this section. You find a wiring diagram of it.

Don't feel dumb, we all make mistakes. But yes, the amp powers all 6 speakers. You can still replace them, just be advised that if you replace the backseats, the amp will still only feed it a low-range signal.

Since you plan on ditching the hatch speakers anyways, you could pull those wires to the backseat to give you a mid-range sound, which is the route i would go especially if you plan on getting a sub.
