Default Amp meter for DC current

Do they make an amp meter that you can clamp around the wire to measure DC current instead of cutting the wire? I know that the amprobe works on AC, but that won't work on DC. I know they can measure a static magnetic field, so the technology should be there.

Any ideas? Thanks!

Yes they are available. Do a Google search for "DC inductive ammeter" (all words not phrase search) to find suppliers.

What does something like that cost?

Would 200 amps be enough for starter testing?

Not sure on costs, but it won't handle what most starters draw when cranking. The smallest amounts in a 4-banger would still be well above 300 A.
