Default installing an aftermarket volt gauge

i need to find good place to wire in the +12v ignition source for the gauge, as well as a spot for the -, its for a volt gauge so i need a place that will give me a good reading.

or more or less how do i tap into the IGN in the fuse box? remove the bolt holding it on and connect it to the back? an explantion would be sweet

or what about connecting it to the ign source off my head unit? i would think it would give a iffy reading, or maybe im just overthinking it all

how about the battery?
or i assume your using aftermarket amps since you want a volt gauge
if thats the case I would use the power distribution block right before the amp

you can wire it up to any place, as voltage will be the same throughout the electrical system. Just tap into any wire that is switched, the one you mentioned will be fine. If you were wiring up an amperage gauge then the location is critical depending on what you wanted to monitor the current draw of.
