Default Quiet sub..(?)

I don't know exactly what it is, so give me things to check for/look at..

I just installed a 11kv.2 in D2 in a stealth box in my camaro, powered by a 350W 4 channel amp. I'm using a bridged connection of two channels to power the sub at 175W.

I wire in the sub, turn the stereo on, and it works, but it's very quiet, and only audible if i turn the gain up on the amp all the way. With all the controls up, it's still extremely quiet, and doesn't seem to be adjusted by the HU volume control. (No matter how loud it is, the sub is the same low volume.) I have RCAs into the rear outputs of my deck (sony) to the kicker amp.

Ideas?

Can you link us to specs on the amp?

How did you wire the voice coils?

Ideas?
>>>

Yes, Try turning all the gains and volumes down some.
Try another regular full range speaker in place maybe slowl work the gains until you can verify it is a speaker problem and not an amp wiring to mono issure...

BT

I'll try this tomorrow, I'm going to finish the wiring to have my rear speakers running off the remaining channels, haven't had a chance to hook it up.
Thanks

i dont know the particular specs on the sub, but from the look of your drawing it's a Dual Voice Coil I suppose? If its 2 "4 Ohm" VCoil version then the way you wired it up on the sub is wrong! The way you done it would make the amp think that its a 8 Ohm sub then you bridged it on the amp to take it back down to a 4 Ohm Mono load. Same thing if its dual 2 Ohm VCoil but it would wind up being 2 ohm Mono load! To get the most power from the sub, take the positive of one VCoil and connect it to the positive on the other VCoil, and then do the same for the Negative terminals and connect them together. Just leave the amp wired the way it is! Be sure to double check the polarities though before reinstalling the sub in the box! The way I told you to do it would probably only work if its a 4 Ohm DVC if it's a 2 Ohm DVC then you will probably have to unbridge the amp. You really need to get a 2 channel amp also. Hope this helps, I've been up since bout 9:00 last night and had to work until 6:30 this morning and still havn't been to sleep. Very tired!!!

OK I tried reading this post quickly, not sure what is being said....but these are his amp's bridged specs:

» 175 watts RMS x 2 in bridged mode (4-ohm stable in bridged mode)

So assuming he has the voice coils wired in series....then he should be fine.

It seems to have healed itself.

I had the ground hooked up to the rear left seatbelt bolt, and it wasn't working for crap, though i'm sure it's a great ground. I unhooked it, tried it somewhere else, then went back to the seatbelt bolt, and it decided to work fine now.

I'm using all 4 channels so i don't know why i would want a 2-channel amp...
