Default help with wirring amps

Hey guys, i'm about to do an Amp install, and i have conflicting things people are telling me...i'm being told one way by one shop, and one way by another shop. So maybe some exprecience people can chime in and lend some advice.

I have a JL Audio 300/4 and a JL Audio 500/1 Amp. I am being told by one place to run a negative cable (o gauge) from the batter back to the back of the car run it through a distribution black ground it at the back of the car, and run the grounds for the amps.

The second shop is telling me to just run a short length of o guage from the battery to the chasis in the front of the car, and only hafve one power cable go to the back, and just ground the amps in the rear....so help me out....please lend me some advice....

EDITING......don't really need 0 awg either....4 awg should be fine -- in fact, you probably couldn't even fit 0 awg with that amp (I know nothing about it though....but I'm guessing 500 in the model means 500wrms)...

JL Audio recommends running a 0 gauge to the distribution block, at that point it will split into (2) 4 gauge wires.

ahhhh damn u caught me before the "EDITING" occurred! I completely misread the post...and was thinking this involved grounding the amp itself, and not "extending" the battery terminal.... yea definitely run 0 to a dist. block for the power obviously -- I thought we were talking about grounding the amps only.

Either way...I would definitely just try to find or make 2 good separate grounds at the rear first..... 0 awg the length of the car is costly.

i know it's expensive...that's why i want to know what to do. Both shops are telling me two different things, one ground the amps at the rear, and the other said to ground the amps from the battery by running a length of wire from the negative terminal to the amps itself...so neadless to say, i'm a little confused. You're right, 20 feet of o gauge is expensive...so please people, i need some help!

Let me first say I am no expert. I am currently running two 400 watt amps. So ran 4 guage from positive battery to the back and ran 4 guage to 2-3 foot and grounded it to the car. You are running more power so 0 gauge is better idea, but I see no reason to run 0 gauge from the negative.. Is the whole metal of the car less then 0 gauge? If you want add a larger grounding wire from the battery to the body of the car. I did for the hell of it.. since stock is maybe 6-8 gauge.

What i am worried about is noise in the speakers, like buzzing or signal noise...that's what i'm worried about.

I would just ground them in the back. JUst make shure you use wire that is sufficent enough to handle what you are asking of the load. Also when i did my 2500 mono block, I regrounded my battery with 0 gauge, I kept it under 1 foot. that helps the weak factory grounds.

I am using 0 gauge for the power and splitting that into 4 gauge for the two amps, and also will be using a 0 gauge ground, will that be sufficent do you think?
