Replacement stereo for Bose System

Replacement stereo for Bose System I have a 94 z28 with a bose system from the factory. Its the old cassette player. 
Anyway, Im wondering what I would have to do to switch it out with an aftermarket system. Ive read different things and am hoping for a definitive answer. Is it best to just look for a stock cd player from another car? If so, what year model systems work to replace mine? I would prefer to go aftermarket, but just have to have a cd player regardless. Maybe have to think bout a cd changer but Im not sure how easy those are to hook into the stock unit as well. Thanks in advance for any answers.

The Bose system used in the Camaro was somewhat unique. It had a special head unit that fed low-level signal to high-impedance speakers with individual amps attached. For that reason, there are no aftermarket or even OEM head units that can directly replace the original. The news is not all bad - there are adapters available that will allow an ordinary aftermarket or OEM head unit to connect to a Bose speaker system. Or, you could replace the speakers at the same time as you replace the head unit so that you don't need the adapter. It really depends on what you want to accomplish and what kind of budget you have.
