Default New Head Unit

Hey everyone. During the summer my monsoon cd player decided to die on me. Every time I put a cd in it comes up with an E20 focous error. Ive tried everything to fix it but I think its just dead so its time to switch. I wanted to get peoples opinion on whether it would be better to keep the stock look and go with another monsoon or get this flip up unit with an LCD screen. Thanks for your time and opinions.

Edit: Also f anyone knows how to FIX the E20 that would be another option. Ive seen the posts but no one really posted anything but using a cd cleaner. Thanks again.

Well, that depends, are you satisfied with the stock sound or do you want more, more, more?

The stock unit sounds fine to me, but more is never a bad thing I was more wondering about peoples thoughts on which would look better.

I think the flip screens look outta place in these cars. Replacing the stock headunit give a lot better sound. I would stick to either a single DIN or a 1.5 DIN. I have always used Alpine and they look really nice in these cars. They are really flashy and the sound quality is 100x better even with stock speakers.

I just put in a JVC EXAD KD-avx1 which is a single din unit that has a screen. Kind of a nice combination of both. Plays everything (dvd,mp3,wma,etc.) and has a 3" screen. For a "basic/standard" radio I really like Clarion, Alpine, Eclipse, and Premier as well. Some of the new Eclipses have a kind of directions feature that is kind of like navigation. You get the directions off your computer, save it to a usb or disc, put it in the HU and it gives you the directions on the screen. Neat feature. Of course with a flip out you can go full navigation which I can do on the avx1 as well. Lots of options...just got to figure out what you want out of it. Either way it will sound much better than the ol' Monsoon!!
