Default What causes bad trunk rattle

I'm about to get a couple subs from a friend, and I was just wondering if anybody knew what it is that causes that horrid trunk rattle. I've noticed a few cars around town with systems that I'm sure cost a lot of money, but they just have that God awful rattle like a woodpecker is hammerin away at their car with a screw. Sub quality? Enclosure quality? I just need to figure it out before I get mine installed. Also, which boxes do you guys recommend? Or should I just go with custom work?.....I'm gettin an NES put in there somehow. Even though I have a PS3, I have to pull out the classic.

Most likely it's that plastic interior piece on inside of the hatch.

It's called "bass"

haha, seriously though, we have a bunch of panels that vibrate, the spare tire/jack will vibrate if its in, tail lights, all sorts of stuff. It is hard to get a card that doesn't vibrate at all. You have to do a pretty good job sound deadening to eliminate all of the rattles, but if you do, your system will sound 10x better.

For me its the tail lights. I can stand behind the car and push on them when the bass hits and it stops most of the rattles for me. The next biggest one sounds like a heat shield or something. Perhaps the sheet metal guard on the gas tank?

I had this problem also, turned out to be the tail light on one side was missing the screw backing to hold it in place. Other than that, Dynamat (ignore the rhyme).
