Subwoofer noises?????
Subwoofer noises????? I am having a weired "cd spinning" and "pulsing" sound emitting from my subwoofer. Even when it is turned all the way down, it still does it. If I turn the gain up, it gets worse. It seems to beat ok, but there is this noise, driving me mad. When I turn the car off, it makes a "thump" and when I turn it on too. Is my amp bad? What could it be? I get motor whine too on some settings.
I had something very similar, and was able to eliminate it by running my signal and power wires down opposite sides of the car. If you haven't tried that, that would be the cheapest way to look for a fix...if that doesn't work, just work your way down the list.
I have heard of the "signal and power" thing before, and to tell you the truth, this is the second amp in the car that did this, so I am hoping that maybe the RCA's went bad, or that I need to run a shielded signal wire, or run them opposite. I will try every thing out. Thanks for the responses.
simply having the rca's too close to your power wire will not cause this. Now, if you happend to put a screw through the rca cable while re-assembling the car, then that will definately do it, as will if the rca ends are broken inside at all.

sounds like ground looping ... try the grounds 1st ... pull the rca's out just enough so that the sheild disconnects with the outside part to test
