Remote Start
Anyway. I will be purchasing a M6 f-body in the near future, and I would like to know what I need/what kit I could have to have remote start on the 6 speed. I've heard of this before. I had it on my F150, but of course it was an automatic.
Also, is there a way i can get the remote start and remote lock/unlock on one key fob? thanks guys. I appreicate it.

Also...yea, I can't search either. It usually goes down in the middle of the night when I'm on, and around 5 o'clock every night I can't even access the forums/site server/whatever....

I can't remember who makes it but the manual transmission version of the remote start has extra programming to make sure the car is in neutral. You have to apply the parking brake, press a button, turn off the ignition and remove the key (but the engine will keep running), get out and lock the doors (at which point the engine shuts off). That way the system knows the car is in neutral.
Now, contrary to what some people will try to tell you, an ordinary remote start system in an M6 will not drive off if the car is left in gear as long as the parking brake is properly adjusted and used. It won't crash through the garage door or chase little old ladies across the parking lot. All it will do is rock a bit and then shut off. The starter motor simply isn't strong enough to move the weight of the car against the resistance of the brake. The remote starter should have an RPM sensor that makes it give up trying to start the engine if it doesn't reach idle after a few seconds of cranking. I have had remote starts on all of my recent manual tranny cars and there have been several times I have forgotten to leave the car in neutral then tried to start it remotely. It rocks and shakes but never moves (although it's probably not good for the starter motor).
