There has to be something I'm missing...
So i'm trying to install my panasonic head unit into my Trans Am and I just do NOT understand how the bezel they gave me is supposed to match up. There are these little black plastic nubs on the area around where the radio is supposed to go that's blocking the bezel from going in place.
Do I have to dremel these out or are there some great directions someone could show me? Anything is appreciated.

Well thanks! I used a paring knife and got the tabs off but now I have another problem I was not prepared for - the damn radio wont go back far enough! Is there ANOTHER piece inside where the radio should sit that needs removing? It looks like theres some kind of metal piece back there but I dont know if thats what it's bumping into or if I'm just not pushing hard enough

Haha well as it would turn out, a paring knife DID do the trick! However, now I have an entirely new problem - I can't get the radio to sit secure! How do I actually affix the radio into my dash? The instructions panasonic gave me dont help worth crap.

I did get that and thanks a lot, that did help and I got that taken care of. However, the problem I have now is probably more specific to the actual head unit. I can't figure out how to get the head unit IN the dash. It sits in there all nice but I just cant figure out how to get it attached and stable. It kind of slides freely in and out of my dash.
The directions that came with the mounting kit are pretty much no help at all.

if you look at the metal sleeve that came with the cd player, theres these little metal tabs all the way around. what you do is bend those metal tabs up, so what your basiclly doing is making it where the cd player wont slide out. its kinda hard to explain, but if i was actually there showing you, it would be very easy.

Which dash kit did you have to modify? Who was the manufacturer?
I had to Scosche yesterday to tell them their 82-02 Camaro/Firebird kit doesn't work on 97+ Camaros. They had no idea. And their product has been out for 10 years!!!

It is the Scosche kit and this thing doesnt work for crap! What did you do to get your head unit in properly? Did you just get a new kit or is there some home remedy I can try?

That's the Scosche kit that I got sent. **** - what a piece of junk. Tell me how that new kit works out for you once you get it in because i'm sick of having my head unit all loosey goosey in my dash

I just got my Scosche GM1588. It looks like the right piece. In the instuctions included, it says it's for 1997+ Camaros. I didn't drive the car to work today so I can't tell you for sure that it works.

i need some pics of the stuff to figure out what exactly you aretalking about. But there should be a metal sleeve around the radio. Take the radio out of it then put the sleeve into the dashkit. Once in the dash kit bend all the tabs up wiht a screwdriver or soemthing until it fits securely in the dashkit. There should also be 2 tabs on each side of the cage make sure they are bent in , these are meant to catch the radio and hold it in.

I'll take some pictures a bit later but the tabs dont really reach the kit, they sit a good 3 inches BEHIND it. If the tabs were to "lock in" to the mounting kit, the radio would be sticking out four inches from my dash. But yeah I'll take some pictures why my phone later since I broke my camera haha - sorry in advance for the crappy quality.

Sorry for the double post but I got it now, thanks for everyone's advice!
I just had to bend those tabs up into the bracket and everything's nice and snug now. Thanks again, I can't believe I didnt even think of that.
