Default Programming a 93 Firebird's Keyfob

I tried the directions in the sticky FAQ, but that didn't work. Doors never locked like they were supposed to. I'm 90% sure I have the receiver since I checked all my RPOs. I'm also pretty sure I got the right Fob as well. So anyone know what I should do? :\ The Tramissiter's P# (Fob) is 12522339. It's brand new, or well it LOOKs brand new. I got it off eBay, open bag but it did come in the original bag. The Fob matches the part numbers on the bag. I doubt it, but does the fact that my trunk's electric pull down not working contribute to this?

Thanks

If no one here knows how, do any of you know if the dealer would have the instructions?

The instructions were in the owner's manual. If you don't have an owner's manual you might be able to find a PDF version online (I've seen Camaro manuals available for download). Otherwise, the dealer will know the procedure - it's also printed in the service manual.

There's a lot of variables here...possiblity of not having keyless entry, possibility of wrong key fob, possibility of defective key fob, and possible difference in procedure from later model cars. However, we have had several people complain that the procedure didn't work until we told them to go back and try again. The car is very picky about that procedure being done exactly as listed without skipping any steps or pausing too long between them. Try it again just to be sure.

I tried it a few times :\ I guess my confusion is in the removing of the fuse. Do you keep the door open, do you have it closed THEN open it, do you pull the fuse then close the door? Then do you turn the key three times and STOP on the third, or do 3, then stop on the forth? It sadly is kinda vague

And yes I weighed all those options you listed. If you know which RPO it is for keyless, I can double check my sheet picture. If anyone knows where the receiver box is, I can also double check that it's there, and plugged in.

I got the Fob P# from the LT1 section Ultimate Newbie FAQ, which then links to a thread in another forum. Under the Security link in that thread it says
remote control door lock transmitter (keyfob) (93-95 Firebird) = 12522339
So that's what I went with. It also lists
remote control door lock receiver (93-95 Firebird, 94-95 Camaro) = 10273333
Would that be all I'd need if I didn't have it already?

Leave the driver's door open. Turn the key on then off once then remove the RADIO fuse. Now turn the key on then off three times leaving it on the third time (that's on-off-on-off-on). The car will lock the doors, unlock the driver's door and pop the hatch. If it doesn't, there's no point going any further - either the procedure is different or you don't have keyless entry.

Your RPO code should be AU0 if you have keyless entry.

Your part numbers are correct. The key fob is 12522339 and the receiver in the car is 10273333. This is different from later models where the Body Control Module (BCM) handles the keyless entry along with numerous other functions. The receiver is mounted in a slide-in bracket behind the right kick panel.

That should be all you need (well...along with power locks of course).

Yup, I have AU0. And, I know it's a Zero, since the O in "BASE/CLEAR COAT" doesn't look like the 0 in AU0.

I'll go give it a quick whirl right now, again. If that doesn't do it again, I'll pull the kick panel later today.

Thanks a ton!

EDIT: Still no dice :\ Oh well, I'll see what I can find out later. I'm still not ruling out user error lol

I have bought two from the dealer for different cars. They take my old one to the back and do something. When they give me the new one it works on my car. I never cared to ask questions, I just payed and left.

The problem here is, I don't have the original/s. If I just had one working one, I'd be fine

Figured I"d update. I posted in the LT1 forum asking if I could get someone to check their manual. Someone posted a link to the info for every year. Damn mines so much easier than the other years! All is well now, the Fob works. I'm a happy camper!

Thanks everyone.

I'm having the same type of problem with my 94 camaro. How did you finally get it done?
