Default Best ground?

I have a 99 ws6, not sure where the best ground location is for an amplifier. Right now I am grounded to the passenger side bolt above the wheel, but my amp is acting up.

If you're gonna drill a hole make sure you sand some of the paint off to get good contact

How can I test my ground strength with my ohm-meter?

Grounds aren't easy to test with a ohm-meter. An ohm-meter uses a very small amount of current to test resistance. If you have a poor connection, it may still be plenty to show a good connection from an ohm-meter, but when you try dumping 50-100 amps through it, it won't keep up.

If you just need to test the amp, you could try running a long ground wire all the way out to the battery (NOT a permanent solution, just for testing). If the system works while it's tied straight to the battery, then you'll know it's a ground issue. If it still has problems, you'll have to check other possibilities.

All my audio gear is routed to the back and grounded where the hatch latch is located. I cleaned off the paint and grounded the amps and HU to the same spot. Using the same grounding point for all your gear assures no whine.

I have my amp located right behind the back seat on the shelf.. I ran the wires under the carpet and used the bolt on one of the cargo tie down hooks as a ground. It works good, no noise and not cutting out here.
