Default Replacing Rear Speakers in an 01 TA

I have an 01 TA with the Monsoon system and so there are a 4" 4-ohm and a .75 tweeter in the rear on each side. However, I was looking for a bit more bass. I'm not necessarily looking to get a sub in there, maybe a 10". So if I were to add a sub, what would I have to do to make it work. Or, could I just replace the 4 rear speakers (4" and tweeters x2) with a pair of 4x6 or 5x9s? Has anyone done the latter? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have replaced my 00 T/A rear hatch speakers with the 4x6" by jbl, just a little cuting and fitting, all my speakers are JBL, and they sound great, but i also have 2 12" subs in the rear, also jbl.
Bass = Subs!

Im looking to replace my speakers in the sail panel and was think if there was a adapter from the stock GM wires to the new speakers? Instead of cuting them.

When I replaced my Sail Panel Speakers, I just spliced the two wires into the wire harness of the speakers. I did this after trying just one of the two wires in every combination I could, but they were always half powered. Now they work fine. I don't know the 'stereo gods' way of doing this right, but it worked for me.
