Default Is this a true Monsoon HU?

I'm not sure if 1997's had the Monsoon logo on the front, I think they did though. Mine does not have it. Can you identify if this is a true Monsoon HU or not?

The only difference between a regular Delco and Monsoon HU is the logo on the plastic cover. You can get one from the Delco radio repair people and switch them if you like.

"Early Monsoon HU's did not have the logo"

I am trying to figure if this has been swapped with a non-monsoon or an early monsoon

It makes no difference! Wolfgang427 is correct - the only difference between a "Monsoon" head unit and any other HU is the Monsoon label. There is absolutely nothing special about a Monsoon HU - it's just a plain ordinary Delco head unit. The Monsoon system is all in the amp and the speakers.

Not ti highjack, but did all of the 97 Z-28's come with a Monsoon system? Meaning did they make any without the amp?

Thanks,

Eric

Sure, the Monsoon system was optional (RPO code UZ7) until 2000. I think it became part of the Z28 option package in 01. It was always optional on V6 models.

For Firebirds, it was made a standard part of the T/A package in 2000 but remained optional in other models (RPO codes W54 and W55 for cassette and CD respectively).

Might have been a former police pursuit vehicle. Look for option code B4C on the door sticker. While you could order a stripped Camaro I don't think a lot were made that were not B4C cars. What is strange is most B4C cars were hard tops.

All B4Cs were hardtops. T-tops were not available for the B4C or the 1LE.
