Default batt relocation problems w/ start up...

i think anyways. ever since i moved the battery to the trunk my trip odometer resets itself everytime the car turns off as if the battery were dying. i replaced the battery and its still doing it. so do i have an unsufficient ground somewhere or am i not using a big enough gauge wire between the fuse box/ starter or the alt/ starter. (8 gauge) (2 gauge from starter to battery) it also flicks about 3-4 seconds after start up like it used to at start up. (the gauges maxing out then coming back down to where they belong)
