when the ac on it helps keep the screen cold, also the heat doesn't seem to effect the screen ether

firestarter....awesome work, even if its not too practical, it looks badass plus its personalized, not factory and plain, so props for that, i dunno if it was mine would i let anyone ride in the pass seat, you know how somebody with a big *** foot can tear some **** up getting in and out. as a matter of fact, i would prolly take the other seats out, it would be a solo bird.
Yeah I'm putting something together for everyone this weekend. I'm going to be re-wrapping my bezel because the glue I used sucked, so I'll have some nice shots! I'll do the best I can to help you all out!

Firestarter, your system looks good. Personally I would of minimized the amount of work by going the carpc route, but what you are doing works well too. I really like the dash LCD- you obviously have a good bit of fabbing talent. As was said earlier, a carpc's parts only run around 1K and you wouldn't need to replace it like a home computer- If it does audio and video well, then what's the point of upgrading? I am using the VIA SP13000, it is a mini-ITX motherboard with integrated 1.3Ghz CPU, I have 512Mb RAM installed, and it does everything quite well. With a single LCD in the dash like yours, you could do:
-GPS navigation
-CD audio
-MP3/AAC/WMV audio off hard disk
-DVD video/.AVI video off hard disk
-satellite radio (XM)
-FM radio
you wouldn't need the two units in front of the passenger, just the single big display.
If your'e interested, I would head on over to http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/ and do some reading/research. Again, that screen in the dash is just awesome and I wish I had the nuts to carve up my dash like that. Good luck!

I just ordered one of those 7" flip out screens for my trans am... I will post it up what it looks like later...
