It probably would have been alot cheeper to buy a premade box. I do love the way it looks, different, 1 of 1, made with my own vision and my own two hands. The only thing I dont like is that it is heavy. Weight is the enemy..

So as far as making more of them to sell, count me out. I just dont have the time or energy for that right now. Plus id have to get a pretty penny for them to cover the costs and my time. If i had them perfected more I would try to produce a few, but not right now. On the other hand I could use some extra cash flow for my never ending quest to get into that 12second club..

Also the amp is mounted under the box. I never have liked to show off my amps for some reason. I think hidden amps keep things looking clean.

Thanks again for all the good comments!!!!!!!!!!!!
How much do you think it would cost to make one, if you decided to do it again?

material cost would not be too bad.. Just from looking at it, I'd guess it could be done with 1 sheet of mdf at $25 or so. Plus 4 layers of stiched biaxial, 2 layers of mat, at about $35, plus a gallon of resin at $20. A gallon of filler is around $15, plus lots and lots of sandpaper.

So all it all, around $100 plus paint.

But I can tell you now, I don't envy the time it took to make it, and I would say anything less then $600 for that box is a steal.

Well "Mike @ FbodyAudio" you must know your stuff, cause your pretty dang close on everything. They would be a steal for under $600. Im going to work on a new "prototype" box over the next few weeks, and i'll let them be a steal for $475-$500 + shipping.

The new box i'm planning on building will look similar to this one, but as far as fit n finish I plan on the new box making this one look like a piece of crap. I'm planing on it having more cubic feet but @ the same time be lighter.

Anyway I went over to my dads house today and he said he's down for making another one this winter. So if anyones still interested let me know. If this one turns out like I plan, I will make a mold from it and be able to knock multiples out faster than the estimated time of 2 months. Just reply if ur interested....

Thanks!!

Thats exactly how I am. looks way better without seeing the amps or wiring. I made a box for my third gen that sat in the same area and had the amp and the cap underneath. looks great man.
