That's kind of what I was saying at the end of my last post. If you are flying around town and you're the only one on the road, once that cop hits you, it's too late.

But, (especially here in northern Oklahoma were everthing is so flat) if a cop is up the road a distance shooting traffic, than you can get that heads up to slow down.

Like I said, they are not perfect and will not guarantee you no more tickets, but mine has saved my *** a few times.

I've only gotten two speeding ticket since I had mine. One was because I muted it on a long highway trip and forgot to unmute it . Next thing I know, I get busted for 76 in a 70 (must have been a slow night for him )

The other time was for doing 85 in a 45 on a road all by myself. It was not hard for the cop to determine who was speeding.

That said, laser jammers are around for a reason, and if you're concerned about it....

Though if you're going 120 in a 55, even if you jam his radar/laser gun, chances are he's just going to make up some speed and claim he got a reading.
a laser beam is so narrow that by the time your detector has picked it up, its too late. most people mount there detectors in the middle of the windshield or higher to be most effective against radar...while a cop using laser is targeting the nose of the vehicle. So by the time your high mounted detector picked up the laser beam, its passed over the front of the car and windshield....

but yes, if you're that concerned about laser, get an expensive *** jammer...

Sorry, that's not true. Not in traffic, and I don't mean rush hour type traffic, but just moderate traffic. If you're the only car around, sure, but that's not what I said.

This one's been dead for some time but radar detectors are stupid. Cops have radar on the front, rear, and sides of their car. The detecter senses radar on you well after the cop knows how fast you're going. If it starts beeping at you, it's too late. WASTE OF MONEY.

you are wrong.

btw the v1 has arrows that tell you which direction the radar (cop is at) also i think you are confusing radar with laser.

with laser it is harder to detect and yes if you are hit with laser thats usually when ur radar detects it and if you are speeding and hit with laser well then its 2 late.

No radar detector is perfect, and you still run a risk of getting a ticket if you speed no matter what.
I've got one too. I'm happy with it. It not only detects radar pretty well around corners on the curvy 2 lane roads I drive. But also detects ships at sea, threats from door openers, helicopters and apparently UFO's because sometimes it lets out a noise that sounds like a goofy ringtone and I never see anything.

I'm thinking of moving up to a Escort, but I'm still thinking. The Valentine arrows hold no attraction for me personally.

Purchased an 07'GT and within a week had a ticket. It gets lots of attention, the wrong attention most of the time. I don't even drive at night with the center fogs activated anymore. They're like a cop magnet. A week after purchasing the car I'm driving along at 40 mph in a 35 when what do you know, a cop pulls me out of a bunch of cars driving the same speed (wonder why?) and pulls me over. Ticketed me for 40 in a 35.

I drove directly to the nearest Best Buy and purchased the most expensive detector they carried, Escort 9500i. I've had a V1 in the past and the thing drove me crazy with falses. The 9500i never falses. If it picks up K/KA/laser you better believe there are cops in the area. I've had it over a year now and have only had one other ticket, he f'in paced me.

I have a V1 I bought about two years ago. I don't really speed much, but when I want to I want to know sum'n is helping me! I live in a very rural area of NE MI and the Po-Po's up here turn thier radars on and off as cars approach them traveling down the highway. So the V1 is awesome for this, due to the fact that it will lite up then shut down quickly, letting me know that there is one in front of or coming at me that is hitting the cars in front of me as he nears me. Some po-po's up here also run with two (one front and one rear) so I like knowing how many he/she may have in the car so after I pass him/her I know if I am still getting hit from the rear radar. As for the Laser, I understand it is a narrow path, and if your the first one to get hit (Laser or not)....ur toast regardless. However, I used to travel from MI to KS and in So IL the State Boys will sit on a bridge overpass and pick you off coming up the e-way. My V1 would go off, with that earpeircing laser tone it has, lol (guessing it was me they were hitting) then it would go off one or two more times. So, either the "boys" did not beleive I was not speeding and hit me again, or it was picking them up hitting other cars close to/around me. Either way for me, I just like knowing where they are!

lol how can it be too late if the cop is a mile down the road and theres traffic. no way he could get your speed and no 1 elses. as long as you have either escort 9500i or v1 you will be good. obviously there are instances were its too late but with my 9500i i get them from so far away its impossible for them to have got me.

Most people have no idea how radar works, and don't pay enough attention to make sure they mount their detector properly, and then they wonder why their $400 radar detector isn't working right.

Nothing is going to be 100% perfect, but I work with radar, and radar theory everyday - hell the piece of equipment i work on is basically a huge radar detector, so i think it's funny to read those posts.

What kind of pricing can you do for a 9500I or the Ix when it comes?
