Default for those that have sound deadned?

i got a 02 z with a loudmouth exhaust. now i used about 20 sq. feet of dynamatic extreme and did the the rear seat area(under the back seats, the rear hump, the behind the backseat, and the rear floor board). on top of that from hatch latch to firewall i used the frost king and covered the whole car(except the doors and drain plugs with approximately 7 rolls). i am noticing really nothing in improvement. at idle with window up compared to down i notice very very little difference and on exceleration or cruise no difference at all. i feel i completely wasted my time. my ? is.... is there a magic spot im missing? i dont know about the firechickens but did you guys cover up those wind flaps below the driverside cubby? it seems the most of the sound is coming from the rear/hatch area. true duals with before the axle dumps has to be as loud as the loudmouth right? im really confused? any expertise or ideas are welcomed. thanks.
ps. 4 those of you that have read my other posts the fiberglass box i made fargin SLAMMS!

i got in the back seat with the car running and it really sounds like its coming from the hatch area. especially the driverside cubby.
how far out do you guys stick your exhaust tips out? mine stick out right around an inch. any ideas? rip out the frost king back there and try dynamat?

You hit on on the head about the air flaps in the barck drivers area. When I had my bumper off, I sprayed a little great stuff foam in there to fill up the holes. The dynamat is really good for killing vibration which hopefully equates to noise. The frost king stuff does work pretty good for road noise, but a more dense material is needed to kill the noise frequency of your exhaust. The harsh truth is truly effective sound deadening weighs alot. My exhaust was driving me nuts, so I did the unthinkable. . I added 30lbs of weight. www.cascade.com they sell a product described as a "barrier pad". They have two options, lead or vinyl. I used the lead.
Starting from the very back at the hatch release going down the wall, on the floor, back over the axle hump back down to the backseat bolts. That stopped the noise for me. I haven't used their vinyl stuff, but it looks to me that it would be much harder to form to the interior than the vinyl. Hope that helps.

Ive never used Dynamat or the Frost King stuff, but I can say with 100 sq ft of B-Quiet Extreme, the difference is very noticable.

I have a pretty big cam going through LT headers, and a Loudmouth, and yes, I can still hear the exhaust while driving around with the windows up, but it is noticably quieter than it was before. Road and tire noise is decreased drastically, and my rear bass response is improved as well.

See this thread for a bunch of pictures of my install:

As a whole, I am very happy I did it.

i used a few boxes of dynamat extreme and was thrilled with the results. i did the entire car from the trunk to the front firewall. i also got some rubberized undercoating to fill in the gaps. sorry yours didn't work so well but i couldn't be happier.
