Default Steering Wheel Controls?

I was thinking of getting a Pioneer Din and a Half unit or a flip screen head unit. The problem I have is will my steering wheel controls work with an aftermarket head unit or will they just be lighted decorations?

Get the PAC SWI-X... it'll allow the stock steering wheel controls to work with most aftermarket head units.
