monsoon system intermitintly shutting off I have had my car for about a week now. Twice in that week i have had an odd radio problem. The first time it went out and came back on three minuits later. The second time the radio turned off right before i pulled into my destination. I turned the car off, Turned the ignition back on, and the radio came back to life...
THe way it dies is the back lights for the buttons still work But the display is compleatly blank, no clock or sound, Also not responsive to any control inputs. then it springs back to life without loosing track of what time it is. Any idea what could be causing it?

Actually, the BCM - there is no separate RAP module on 98+ f-bodies. The easy way to check if it's a problem with RAP is to try the windows the next time it happens. They're on the same RAP circuit so they would stop working at the same time if that is the problem.

I'm having the exact same problem. It's in a 99 Firebird coupe (v6). It's happened for the last year or so. It's been happening quite frequently now, and now the clock won't come back on (the rest of the lights will).
When it shuts off, the antenna will go down. I haven't tried the windows, but I will this evening if it happens.

Hey Ian -- hope things are going well with KEE AUDIO! Looks to be a great success - you may hear from me soon.
OK its been a while but i did get confirmation on the windows. When the radio is out so is the windows. Again intermitent and hard to predect the occurance. Though as a strange note the vehical being up on ramps for an oil change seemed to aggravate it.

We have seen a couple of cases like that and it turned out to be a loose connection at the BCM. Check the dark blue wire in the black 6-pin connector on the BCM - move the wire and see if the radio cuts out.
