air horn i'm not too sure where to post this, but i'm sure you know the horns in these cars sound like poo. i'm interested in putiing a air horn in. i have not seen anything about them. i've loooked for days at all the f-body sites
.
any ideas , comments suggestions?

Re: air horn i thought of doing this to. it would be funny and loud as ****. its definitly enough room. i have a emergency equipment catalog called galls, they sell sirens,lights,vest,batons evrything a cop or fireman could need.they have a siren designed to fit in 93-02 maros since police use them.that would be fun.depending on how much you wanna spend its compatible with serveral siren station setups some just have a couple of tones to all out 5-way siren airhorn and intercom.you would just have to be careful,you could get in big trouble useing it in the wrong places. www.galls.com

depending on why you want a horn, I wanted mine for attention draw during a break in. Who the hell would not take a glance at a car blaring "la cucuracha" through quad airhorns! anyway they have noraml horns for function, and musical for attention. And also the suggestion on galls is a good one, I have their catalog too.

Re: air horn i just went out and bought one. a wolo extreme that was blue. i used the original bracket, just readjusted it some. you can barely see it.
it does not work with the beep for the alarm. i'm thinking of putting one of the original horns back in series.
its really nice and loud, and only took about 45 min of tinkering.

Re: air horn I had a Train horn in my dads truck, All I did was go to the train yard and buy one off of a scrap train for 60bucks, its about 4 feet long and I bought a 50dollar air tank from homedepot and an electric air compressor, put a manual valve on the air and there you have urself a train horn, its fun sitting at intersections and doing it and people look for a train........you coul ddo that, but im not sure if it would fit in the back of a camaro.
Re: air horn Whelen makes excelent sirens and air horns. We had some problems with galls on our ambulances.

The low tone has recently died on my camaro. Just have the remaining high tone (sounds like a damn honda civic).
Anyways, I have this installed on the bike .

Been thinking of mounting one on the camaro as well. What's involved at getting at the stock location? Does the front bumper cover/reinforcement have to come off?

The stock horns run through a relay in junction box 1 under the hood but it's only a 20-amp circuit so you would be pushing it. You could try using a 25-amp fuse (the wire is heavy enough to handle that much current) but you still might find it blowing every once in a while.
Another option that I used in my car is a pair of horns called "Wing Blasters". These are 138dB purely electric horns (no air compressor) that are designed as replacements for Gold Wings. They are available from Chrome World and other motorcycle accessory shops and can be installed without rewiring.
You can reach the stock location through the same access panel under the front right that you use to change bulbs there.
