is it a stand alone thing, from bestbuy or something? i had one a few years ago, i put the antenna on the roof, centered toward the back. and i actually ziptied the mount to the airvent... i know it sounds dumb, but it looked good. im at work so i cant post pics..

I just got a Starmate 4 from Circuit City. It came with a magnetic antenna and it will only stick to the hood or rear qtr panels. I didn't realize the back hatch was fiberglass. I'm thinking about keeping it in the car on the dash where the glass and dash meet. I wouldn't think the windshield would block that much of the signal but I could be wrong.

There have been numerous threads talking about satellite radio antenna placement. A quick search should get you plenty of results including photos.

Basically, the antenna should be placed at the highest point as close as possible to the center of the car - the t-top bar is ideal. But the signal is not affected much by plastic or glass so there are a number of places you can mount the antenna that are more hidden. Inside the rear spoiler is a popular stealth location. Also, on top of the dash or under the plastic windshield cowl will work. You could even put it under the hood on your WS6 (that won't work with metal hoods).

The magnet in the antenna is just a convenience. You don't need a metal surface and can just use two-sided tape to attach the antenna.

nah, you can put it there. or put it under the black plastic part of the cowl. it real easy to put the antenna there.

my skyfi that i bought had a magnetic antenna, and had 3m tape on it too. when i sold the car, i used a heat gun to pull the antenna off. so if you want it outside, get some 3m tape

My antenna is hidden in the hatch itself.

My antenna is on the rear hatch just below the T-top bar, no problem with reception.
